Policies for Private Lessons
Lessons:
Please
check to see you have all books and materials needed for each lesson.
Always be on time for lessons.
No extra time will be given for late arrivals.
Parents
may be asked to read and sign a weekly practice record.
If a student’s practice is insufficient for 3 weeks in a row,
that
student is placed on probation. If no improvement is shown, the student
can be
dismissed from the studio.
The
amount of practice is to be determined between student and teacher, but
generally, it is expected that a beginning student practice 30 min. a
day, 6
days a week.
Siblings may not attend lessons if they are a distraction to either student or teacher.
The student's regular lesson time can be changed only once during the school year, in order to maintain consistency in scheduling.
Feel free to email or call anytime there is a question/concern about progress, assignment, etc.
Make-ups:
If I miss a lesson, we will schedule a make-up lesson at
your convenience.
If the student must miss a lesson, they are allowed two
make-up lessons per semester. To be eligible for a make-up lesson, the
student/parent must notify me at least 24 hours previous to the lesson.
Lessons will be made-up at the end of the semester or at my convenience. A one-hour group class can be counted as a make-up for a 30 min. private lesson.
In the case of true emergencies or sickness where 24 hours notice is not possible, I will record the date of the
missed lesson and make it up at some point in the semester if I’m able.
This policy encourages students to
be more consistent with their lesson attendance and consistency is one
of the
most important aspects of learning music well!
Tuition can be
paid monthly or quarterly. Monthly payment is due at the first lesson of each month.
Make checks to Vanessa Clark.
Any tuition payments received after the 14th will receive a $15 late fee.
If payment is repeatedly late, you will be required to pay by credit card online with an added fee.
Contact me for rates.
Books:
Parents will order the necessary books online. I will e-mail a
link to the book the student needs and the parent is then required to order it in a timely manner.
